We are seeking a strategic and hands-on to lead the Human Resources function for a prominent Non-Profit organization in Boston. This senior leadership role is responsible for maximizing HR performance, strengthening staff development, and fostering an organizational culture. The CPO will oversee a comprehensive HR operation, ensuring that all people-operations are running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Operations & Performance
- Provide direct leadership to HR staff, managing day-to-day functions including payroll, benefits, recruitment, and compensation reviews.
- Develop and implement equitable HR systems and policies; ensure compliance with employment laws and internal mandates.
- Lead the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in collaboration with Finance and IT.
- Partner with legal counsel on staff policies, labor disputes, and sensitive investigations.
Learning, Development & Wellbeing
- Design and execute a development plan to build staff capacity tailored to public health needs.
- Champion a high-performance culture by leading initiatives in compensation analysis and performance management.
- Drive employee appreciation programs and collaborate with internal wellness teams to enhance a sense of belonging and workplace wellbeing.
Senior Leadership & Equity
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on organizational risks, crisis management, and HR metrics for grants and audits.
- Advance the organization’s commitment to becoming an anti-racist entity by embedding equity into recruitment, hiring, and retention strategies.
- Occasionally represent the organization at public hearings and large-scale community events.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 10–15 years of comprehensive HR experience (Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Org Development).
- Leadership: 8–10 years of experience managing mid-to-large-sized teams.
- Education: BA/BS required; Master’s in HR Management or MBA preferred.
- Sector Knowledge: Experience in the government or public sector is strongly preferred.
Salary : $160,000 - $180,000
