OVERVIEW: The Development Coordinator fulfills a central role in the Development Department. They are a database expert and a Virtuous Administrator. They are a fundraiser, managing several annual giving programs. They are an expert relationship developer with donors and the public. They are a storyteller and discover stories from across the organization to feature in our publications and on social media. They are an advanced social media user and take a lead role in RMRP’s social media postings. They are an event coordinator for donor events and provide cornerstone support for the Annual Gala. Moreover, the Development Coordinator is a community builder and donor engagement specialist.
The Development Coordinator will help the Department achieve its annual fundraising goals and advance RMRP’s life-saving and life-changing mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- FUNDRAISING: Develops and implements fundraising strategies related to the S.O.A.R. program, the 1987 Club, and the Aerie Society. Coordinate phone campaigns to increase monthly donor numbers.
- DATABASE: Ensures timely processing of all primary data and gift entries for individuals and organizations in Virtuous, RMRP’s CRM system. Becomes a Virtuous Administrator. Contributes to advancing RMRP’s data by ensuring the accuracy of donor demographics, attributes, relationships, tags, appeal codes, gift amounts, and gift types. Documents and creates workflows for everyday tasks. Assists in the creation of data entry style and content conventions.
- RECEIPTING AND THANKING: Ensures timely thanking and receipting of all cash, credit card, and in-kind gifts. Creates engaging, story-based thank-you letters. Contributes to the advancement of RMRP’s Radical Gratitude program. Places or directs “day of gift” courtesy phone calls to every donor, letting them know their gift has arrived and thanking them.
- MEDIA: Updates website as requested. Composes press releases and social media postings as part of coordinated campaigns.
- COMMUNICATIONS: Greets everyone with a warm, cheerful greeting and makes them feel welcome. Communicates effectively with co-workers, volunteers, donors, agencies, vendors, and the general public. Provides and trains volunteers in professional and courteous service to donors and all stakeholders.
- CORRESPONDENCE: Composes a variety of letters, texts, and thank-you notes to donors. Place regular phone calls to donors to thank or to follow up with a mailing.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ensures front office/reception/front desk areas are clean, tidy, and organized for maximum efficiency, and have updated publications available.
- VOLUNTEERS: Develops and coordinates front desk volunteers to ensure they have adequate and meaningful work assignments. Assists in recruiting and managing volunteers to aid in the work of the department.
- EVENTS: Provides support for open houses, donor events, and the annual Gala.
- TOURS: May coordinate tours and may conduct tours.
- OTHER: Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and professional demeanor for greeting visitors, answering phones, and interacting with donors and volunteers.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and comfort with learning new software.
- Experience with database management; ability to maintain accurate donor and constituent records.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and professionalism in both independent and team settings.
- Commitment to the mission, values, and programs of the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program.
- Self-starter who can work independently with minimal direction.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- High level of typing accuracy and speed.
- Team player who collaborates with colleagues to advance our mission.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Comfortable working with volunteers: assigning tasks, providing training, and supervision.
PREFERRED:
- Prior experience in a nonprofit, fundraising, or customer service/reception role.
- Familiarity with donor management databases (e.g., DonorPerfect, Salesforce, Little Green Light, etc.).
- Experience with event coordination or volunteer management.
- Basic understanding of fundraising principles, donor stewardship, and office administration.
- Enthusiasm for wildlife, conservation, and community engagement.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BA and two years of experience working with data systems, data processing, data management, and customer relations. Two years of experience working in a business/fundraising office, with donor data management and donation processing, is highly preferred. Experience with fundraising software is highly desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as donor retention rate, donor attrition, lifetime value, and other fundraising metrics.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level is usually moderate, with high activity and competing demands for attention.
ANNUAL COMPENSATION: $45,760 to $54,080, paid every month.
