Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various medical settings, including dermatology, urgent care, and hospital medicine. This role involves providing exceptional patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and supporting the administrative functions of the clinic or hospital environment. The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care while maintaining efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Perform intake assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting medical histories.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians and ensure proper documentation.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems to maintain accurate patient information.
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
- Conduct basic life support (BLS) as needed and maintain certification.
- Prepare patients for X-ray procedures or other diagnostic tests as required.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Utilize knowledge of ICD coding for accurate billing and documentation purposes.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment to ensure patient safety.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical assistant role or similar position within healthcare settings such as clinics, hospitals, or urgent care facilities.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Familiarity with EHR systems for efficient patient management.
- Experience in various specialties including internal medicine, geriatrics, emergency medicine, and surgical assistance (OR experience).
- Ability to perform intake procedures effectively while demonstrating excellent patient service skills.
- Knowledge of vital sign assessment and medication administration protocols.
- Previous exposure to level I or level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
