SUMMARY: The Passport Clerk is responsible for assisting the public with the preparation and submission of U.S. passport applications. This position processes passport documents, captures passport photos, and ensures all materials are properly packaged and mailed to the U.S. Department of State's processing center. The Passport Clerk provides excellent customer service and ensures compliance with federal guidelines and local office procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist applicants with completing U.S. passport applications and verify documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Issue passports in accordance with federal regulations and office protocols.
- Capture and process passport photos that meet U.S. Department of State requirements.
- Prepare, assemble, and mail completed passport application packets and supporting documents to the main passport office or appropriate processing center.
- Maintain accurate records of applications, payments, and mailings.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding passport requirements, timelines, and procedures.
- Handle fees, issue receipts, and follow cash-handling procedures.
- Maintain passport equipment and supply inventory, including cameras, forms, and mailing materials.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all applicant information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Position is located in an office environment with little or no exposure to environmental conditions. Health and safety hazards are minimal. No protective equipment is required. Fine dexterity, sitting, and vision are constantly used. Occasionally, talking and walking are required.
