SUMMARY OF POSITION
Responsible for designing, developing, and engineering unique product solutions to identified problems or needs in support of the organization’s objective of inspiring woodworkers through innovation.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Invent, design, and develop a continuous flow of new products to meet the strategic goals of the organization.
- Responsible for managing multiple projects/products simultaneously.
- Coordinates with internal and external resources in the development process to ensure projects are completed on time and meet desired requirements.
- Ensures the design and manufacturing quality standards are aligned to the brand position.
- Manages products through all stages of development – ideation, proof of concept, solid modeling, design specification, sourcing, engineering, packaging creation and product presentation.
- Assists the Product Development Director in the execution of product introduction in all channels – retail, catalog, and internet.
- Other duties as directed
- Attendance is an essential function of this position, and we rely on all our employees to be at work during their scheduled shift.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Product Design or Product Engineering
- SolidWorks experience – solid modeling and part drawing creation
- Able to work in a team atmosphere
- Good foundation in materials and manufacturing processes
- Ability to lead and manage multiple projects
- 5-10 years’ experience with consumer product design
- Product Engineering experience is a plus
- Possesses a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and power tools is preferred
- Great team collaborator, but also excels independently with limited supervision
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Suite
- Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required
- On-Site Position ONLY must be able to work in office.
