What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Assistant Site Director position at Rockland County YMCA?
General Function:
Responsible for assisting the Child Care Site Director with the daily operation of a program site and the development of a system to safeguard the health, safety and nutrition of the children at that site.
Employment Term:
This is a school-year position, with employment from August through June. The Rockland County YMCA may offer opportunities for seasonal or temporary employment in other roles during the summer months. Summer employment is not guaranteed and requires a separate assignment.
Daily Responsibilities:
Follow all CDC, OCFS, and DOH guidelines as they apply to after school programs.
Accurate tracking of all arrivals, departures and absences.
Assist with designing room arrangement to facilitate a variety of experiences.
Serve as the acting Site Director in the Director's absence.
Assist with planning age appropriate and stimulating activities in accordance with the goals of the YMCA and NSACA.
Maintain cleanliness and order of all areas used.
Maintain open communication with parents, administration and school personnel.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Secure and maintain all necessary health/emergency records.
Document all accident/incident reports. Maintain a log book.
Maintain frequent communications with the Program Director.
Mandatory attendance at trainings.
Assume other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Associate Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field or two years of college with 18 credits in the above areas or concentration and two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years of age including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
Must submit to an inquiry with the State Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
Must submit yearly fingerprint card to the Office of Children and Family Services.
Must be sensitive and mature, able to relate well to both children and adults.
Needs personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for the program's continuity.
Have a physical including Mantoux test.
