Hazardous Energy Control Field Survey Specialist

By 7:00 a.m., you’re lacing up your boots at a manufacturing plant, PPE on and tablet in hand. You trace pneumatic lines, review electrical panels, and speak with maintenance about changeovers. By noon, you’ve photographed isolation points, verified valve accessibility, and drafted a clear, step-by-step isolation plan. Before you leave, you walk the floor again to validate every step and install tags where needed—safety, accuracy, and efficiency driving every decision.

We’re hiring a Lockout/Tagout specialist to perform field surveys and create precise, machine-specific isolation procedures. You’ll travel extensively to customer facilities, collaborating with operations teams and using purpose-built LOTO tools to deliver OSHA-compliant road-maps that keep people safe.

This position is part of Steptron- a division of Rockford Systems LLC, based in Clinton, MI. Position is open to remote locations.

• Perform detailed on-site assessments of industrial machines, equipment, and energy sources.
• Identify and document all energy isolation points (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, thermal, etc.).
• Develop accurate, machine-specific lockout/tagout road-maps and documentation aligned to OSHA 1910.147 and client requirements.
• Collaborate with customer teams and internal colleagues to confirm safe, compliant procedures.
• Capture annotated photos and record technical details for LOTO road-map creation tools.
• Validate feasibility and accuracy of proposed isolation methods.
• Implement LOTO procedures and tags on site at customer facilities.
• Champion safety, precision, and efficiency during every visit.

• Strong understanding of industrial equipment operation and hazardous energy.
• Experience in safety auditing, risk assessments, or EH&S compliance.
• Familiarity with OSHA lockout/tagout standards (1910.147) or similar frameworks.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
• Skill in documenting technical findings and turning them into practical procedures.
• Comfort in industrial environments; willingness to travel extensively to client sites.
• Exceptional attention to detail, a safety-first mindset, and strong communication skills.
• Genuine enthusiasm for frequent travel.
