About Rockefeller Capital Management

Rockefeller Capital Management was established in 2018 as a leading independent financial advisory services firm. Originally founded in 1882 as the family office of John D. Rockefeller, the Firm has evolved to offer strategic advice to ultra- and high-net-worth individuals and families, institutions, and corporations from offices in 33 markets throughout the United States, as well as an office in London. The Firm oversees $221 billion in client assets as of May 31, 2026.

Position

The Employee Benefits Operations role is responsible for all financial and operational components across the firm’s benefits programs, with primary accountability for claims funding, plan financial controls, billing accuracy, and reconciliation. This role serves as the lead for the internal operations of the self-insured medical plan, including overseeing claims funding, stop-loss administration, and third-party administrator relationships—ensuring that all benefit-related financial transactions are accurate, timely, and well-controlled. The role maintains a strong focus on data integrity, financial rigor, and audit-ready documentation while partnering closely with Finance, Payroll, and our benefits vendors to support the firm’s evolving benefits strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Own all financial and operational components of the firm’s benefits programs, including claims funding, plan budgeting, billing, and financial controls.
  • Manage the monthly claims funding cycle, including reviewing third-party administrator (TPA) funding requests, validating claims activity, tracking stop loss claims, managing reimbursements, and ensuring timely and accurate remittance.
  • In partnership with Finance, support the end-to-end benefits billing operations, including carrier and vendor invoicing, internal cost allocations, and reconciliation processes to ensure accurate funding, remittance, and financial reporting.
  • Perform detailed monthly reconciliations across vendor invoices, enrollment data, and payroll deductions, and resolve discrepancies including retroactive adjustments and billing errors.
  • Ensure the integrity of benefits data across HRIS, payroll, and third-party vendor systems, and develop and maintain reconciliation models to validate data accuracy across platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency through automation and tooling, and support system enhancements focused on financial accuracy.
  • Develop and deliver regular reporting to leadership and Finance to support financial oversight and operational transparency, leveraging advanced Excel to build scalable reporting tools.
  • Support the annual open enrollment process, including testing of benefit plans and eligibility rules in Workday, employee communications, and issue resolution.
  • Execute day-to-day compliance activities across benefits operations, including monitoring eligibility, enrollments, and plan administration against ERISA, ACA, and HIPAA requirements; maintaining accurate records; and supporting audits and reporting to ensure processes remain controlled, accurate, and compliant.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 4-6 years of experience in benefits operations, finance, or related analytical roles, with direct experience supporting self-insured medical plans strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience with benefits billing, financial reconciliation, claims funding, and vendor invoicing processes.
  • Working knowledge of self-insurance mechanics, including stop-loss, claims funding, and IBNR reserves.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (preferably Workday).

Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with automation tools.
  • Highly analytical professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is able to manage multiple requests and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and data management acumen with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complex, multi-system data environments, with a bias toward process improvement and automation.
  • Excellent communication and partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Payroll, and external vendors.
  • Self-directed and accountable, with the ability to own end-to-end processes and drive issues to resolution.
  • Intellectually curious and continuously seeking opportunities to enhance efficiency, transparency, and data integrity.
