What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chaplain position at Rock of Ages?
Rock of Ages is hiring a full time Chaplain for our community.
Our mission is to be a caring community where we are nurturing friendships and serving each other, representing Jesus and His servant example to all people.
We are looking for a qualified capable individual that would provide spiritual care, emotional support, and pastoral presence to residents, families, and staff within a Mennonite retirement care community. As our community is rooted in Anabaptist/Mennonite values, the Chaplain helps cultivate a culture of compassion, peace, dignity, and holistic well-being across Independent Living, Memory Care, and transitional life care settings. The Chaplain collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to support residents’ spiritual needs regardless of faith tradition, church affiliation, or personal beliefs.
Qualifications:Qualifications

Master of Divinity (MDiv) or equivalent theological degree preferred.

Endorsement or ordination within a Mennonite denomination (or demonstrated alignment with Anabaptist theology and values) preferred.

At least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred; additional units a plus.

Eligibility for board certification with APC, NACC, or similar professional organization desirable.

3–5 years of experience in chaplaincy, pastoral ministry, or spiritual care in healthcare, senior living, or congregational settings.

Experience supporting individuals with dementia or chronic illness preferred.

Warm pastoral presence with strong listening and communication skills.

Ability to offer compassionate support to aging adults, residents with cognitive changes, and families in crisis.

Demonstrated ability to provide nonjudgmental, inclusive care across diverse spiritual backgrounds.

Collaborative spirit and respect for interdisciplinary teamwork.

Deep grounding in Anabaptist/Mennonite values such as peacebuilding, humility, community, and service.

Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
Physical & Working Conditions

Ability to move throughout the campus to visit residents in varied care settings.

Occasional lifting of hymnals, worship materials, and supplies (up to approximately 20 lbs).

Evening, weekend, and holiday hours required as part of the on-call rotation.

Wages: $24.00 - $27.50/hr Depending on Experience
Schedule: Day Shift, with Occasional Weekend & Evening Requirements
