Sandblast, 2nd shift
Location: Graniteville, VT
Rock of Ages is seeking to add a new team member to our Sandblast group. Our skilled craftsmen and craftswomen cut, shape, and transform stone into beautiful granite products for customers across the U.S. and abroad.
This role requires a hands-on approach, self-motivation, and a commitment to personal and professional development while contributing to the growth and success of our team. This candidate will be responsible for fabricating custom stone products using a variety of hand tools.
On a daily basis, you will be required to:
- Cut inscriptions or designs on the stone surface using specialized equipment.
- Load abrasive materials into the sandblaster and select proper sandblasting settings.
- Engrave inscriptions or designs following prepared stencils.
- Add or remove parts of stencils to vary engraving depth.
- Sandblast freehand (without stencils) to achieve unique finishes.
Qualifications:
- Good physical condition.
- Strong artistic sense and manual dexterity.
- Solid mathematical, spatial, and coordination skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively within a production team.
- Prior stone fabrication experience is preferred but candidates with finishing experience in wood or metal are also encouraged to apply.
Physical demands and work environment:
- Frequent standing and walking; occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Regular lifting and/or moving of up to 50 lbs. (mechanical or team assistance provided for heavier loads).
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate noise levels, and some dust.
Working Conditions:
- Employment status: Permanent / Full-time.
- Hourly rate: $21 to $30 and up, depending on industry experience.
- Schedule/2nd shift:3:pm to 1:30 am, Monday to Thursday.
