What You Will Be Doing

You will own the financial strategy and operations for Rock Island, ensuring the company’s profitability, sustainability, and long-term growth. You will partner closely with leadership across engineering, operations, network solutions, and customer service to align financial goals with business objectives. You will be a key driver in identifying opportunities for revenue growth, cost optimization, and capital efficiency, while maintaining compliance and fiscal discipline.

You will report directly to the EVP and serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team and Board of Directors. This is primarily an on-site role, 3-4 full days per week, located in the San Juan Islands, WA.

You Will:

• Lead all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Develop and execute strategies to drive profitability and optimize operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial alignment with business priorities.
• Oversee accounting, treasury, and compliance functions with precision and integrity.
• Provide clear, actionable insights to guide decision-making at the executive and board level.
• Manage relationships with banks, investors, auditors, and other financial stakeholders.
• Champion a team and culture of accountability, transparency, and results-driven performance.
• Oversee grant accounting, compliance, and reporting requirements, and collaborate with operational teams to guarantee precise financial tracking.

• Skilled at translating complex financial data into clear, actionable strategies that accelerate growth and strengthen operational performance.
• Comfortable owning the numbers — from high-level forecasting to detailed analysis — and holding yourself and others accountable for results.
• A collaborative partner who thrives in cross-functional environments, building trust and alignment with engineering, operations, sales, and customer service teams.
• Experienced in capital planning, managing relationships with banks, investors, and regulatory bodies.
• Resilient and resourceful, able to navigate the unique challenges of operating in a geographically dispersed, infrastructure-heavy business.
• Committed to transparency, fiscal discipline, and delivering hard truths when necessary to protect the company’s long-term health.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field. 
• MBA and/or professional certification (CPA/CMA/Qualified Accounting certificate) are strongly preferred. 
• Up to 7 years of relevant work experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.  
• 5 years of people management experience 
• Demonstrates any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
