What are the responsibilities and job description for the RECREATIONAL THERAPIST INTERN position at ROCK HILL NEW HOPE TREATMENT CENTERS?
New Hope Carolinas is pleased to offer a 15-week paid Recreational Therapy internship designed to support emerging professionals in meeting the NCTRC Internship Guidelines and preparing for future certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
This internship provides hands-on clinical experience under the supervision of a qualified and credentialed Recreational Therapist. Interns will gain exposure to the full RT process, including:
· Assessment using standardized and facility-based tools
· Treatment planning aligned with client goals and evidence-based practice
· Program implementation across group and individual sessions
· Documentation following professional, ethical, and regulatory standards
· Evaluation of client progress and program outcomes
· Professional development in communication, ethics, and interdisciplinary teamwork
The internship is structured to meet NCTRC requirements, including:
· A minimum of 560 hours over at least 14 consecutive weeks
· Supervision by an NCTRC-certified CTRS
· Opportunities to demonstrate competency in the RT process
· Engagement in professional responsibilities appropriate for entry-level practice
