Maintenance Tech- Rock Haven

Position Summary and Job Duties

Performs skilled work in several different crafts, particularly electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and related duties at the County's skilled nursing home.

70%- Maintains electrical, plumbing, heating, and ventilation systems at Rock Haven.

• Inspects motors, air conditioning units and related equipment.
• Repairs, troubleshoots, replaces, and inspects electrical equipment, appliances and fixtures.
• Performs mechanical maintenance, troubleshoots, and repairs plumbing systems and fixtures.
• Replaces piping, valves and other worn or damaged parts.
• Checks and adjusts regulator valves for proper pressure.

• Operates commercial mowers and grounds equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and outdoor equipment.

Success Factors (KSA's)

• Considerable knowledge of building maintenance methods, materials, and equipment.
• Considerable knowledge of power and hand tools and their application in work situations.
• Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work practices.
• Ability to inspect and troubleshoot a variety of electrical, mechanical and other equipment to determine defects and needed repairs.
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
• Knowledge of welding repair.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance on a wide variety of mechanical equipment
• Must have good communication skills
• Must have good customer service skills

Job Requirements, Education, Training & Experience

Graduation from a high school or its equivalent. Three years experience in heating and ventilation, electrical maintenance and plumbing preferred; or equivalent combination of training and experience

Must possess and maintain a current unrestricted (not due to corrective lenses) driver's license and auto insurance pursuant to the Rock County Administrative Policy and Procedure 5.02 and 5.27.
Must possess a working telephone.

Physical Elements:

• Lift, push, pull items up to 50 pounds
• Stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures for extended periods
• Work in precarious or high locations (ladders, etc)
• Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouchin

• Power and hand tools, welder, mowers, etc
