Schedule: Day/Evenings as needed, 8 hour shifts
SUMMARY
As a Central Bed Coordinator, your attentiveness, organization and planning skills greatly enhance the efficiency of hospital bed utilization and a safe, patient focused environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Bed Management. Monitor and manage patient bed needs as it pertains to admitted patient placement; track all new admissions for the procurement and communication of bed assignment for the adult/pediatric – medical/surgical population from various entry points; real time management of discharges, create open bed resources, escalate when demand exceeds standard bed capacity; coordinate bed clean priority changes to Environmental Services
Patient Care. Round on various floors, validating patient movement and patient flow, round on units as needed to gain insight on daily bed issues; monitor isolation bed needs and escalate to Infection Prevention Team if co-habitations might be needed
Communication. Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to maximize the use of beds and facilitate patient movement; act as a resource to units when Care Connect issues arise during patient movements; communicate with Administrative Clinical Coordinator on daily basis regarding bed availability, census status, overcapacity triggers and escalations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or 2 year degree with minimum of 5 years administrative office experience in health care
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of five (5) years of administrative office experience in healthcare preferred
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
High level of proficiency with PC, software applications and reporting tools
Previous experience in CMS, Medicaid/Medicare billing and other regulatory processes is a plus
Bilingual preferred

Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
