JOB TITLE: Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations
DEPARTMENT: Development & Alumni Relations
REPORTS TO: President or Designee

POSITION SUMMARY: The position provides strategic leadership and oversight for all development and fundraising initiatives at Rochester Christian University. The individual leads the Development and Alumni Relations team, guiding the planning, organization, and execution of comprehensive fundraising efforts. This role represents the University in public settings, travels to engage donors and stakeholders, and serves as a representative of the President and the Board of Trustees when appropriate.
EDUCATION ANDIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Demonstrated success in soliciting and securing major gifts of $20,000 or more
- Bachelor’s degree required; additional certifications in Financial Advising and/or Estate Planning preferred
- Experience leading and managing teams within an organizational setting
- Strong interpersonal communication and public speaking abilities
- Ability to engage diverse stakeholders and effectively communicate the story, mission, and vision of Rochester Christian University
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership
- Primary interface to the Rochester University Foundation and board
- Work closely with the President and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to establish fundraising goals and campaign strategies
Development and Alumni Relations Leadership
- Supervise and lead the Development and Alumni Relations staff
- Assign and manage fundraising portfolios and oversee the moves management process for gift officers
- Lead the team responsible for achieving Annual Fund goals
- Oversee major Development and Alumni Relations events for the University
- Review and approve communications distributed to constituents, including the Rochester University eNews, website landing pages, direct mail, and the North Star publication
Major Gifts Development
- Cultivate new strategic relationships and partnerships that support the University’s mission
- Identify potential donors and align their interests with institutional priorities through targeted proposals
- Secure major gifts from alumni, friends of the University, foundations, and corporate partners
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
- Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
- Provide leadership, supervision, and performance management for the Development and Alumni Relations Office
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to effectively communicate the mission and vision of Rochester Christian University to individuals, corporations, churches, and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to solicit philanthropic support on behalf of the University
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the United States
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- Commitment to the University’s mission, demonstrated through a personal faith in Jesus Christ and active involvement in a local church
