Job Summary 

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Data Engineer / Data Platform Architect with over 10 years of experience in designing and implementing enterprise-scale data solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Azure Data Services, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics, Synapse Notebooks, Azure Data Lake, Serverless SQL Pools, and Microsoft Fabric. 

You will be responsible for building scalable data platforms, optimizing data pipelines, enabling advanced analytics, and guiding architecture decisions across modern cloud ecosystems. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Design and develop end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) for ingestion, transformation, and orchestration 

• Architect and implement modern data warehouse/lakehouse solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics and Microsoft Fabric 

• Develop and optimize Synapse Notebooks (PySpark / Spark SQL) for large-scale data processing 

• Build and manage Azure Data Lake (ADLS Gen2) architecture, including data ingestion, storage, governance, and security 

• Create and optimize Serverless SQL Pool views for analytical querying and reporting 

• Implement medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) or equivalent data modeling approaches 

• Drive data transformation using ELT/ETL best practices 

• Monitor and optimize performance, cost, and reliability of Azure data workloads 

• Implement data governance, security, and compliance standards across the platform 

• Collaborate with stakeholders, data scientists, and BI teams to deliver business insights 

• Lead design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and define standards and best practices 

• Work with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for automated deployments 

Required Skills & Qualifications 

Technical Skills 

• Strong hands-on experience with: 

• Azure Data Factory (ADF) – pipeline design, triggers, integration runtime, data flow 

• Azure Synapse Analytics – dedicated & serverless pools 

• Synapse Notebooks – PySpark, Spark SQL 

• Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2) 

• Serverless SQL Pools & Views optimization 

• Microsoft Fabric – Lakehouse, pipelines, dataflows, and integration 

• Proficiency in: 

• SQL (advanced level) 

• Python / PySpark 

• Data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling) 

• Experience with: 

• Data warehousing & lakehouse architectures 

• Performance tuning and query optimization 

• REST APIs, data ingestion from multiple sources (structured/unstructured) 

• Monitoring tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics 

Preferred Skills 

• Experience with Power BI / visualization tools 

• Familiarity with Delta Lake / Parquet formats 

• Knowledge of Data Governance tools (Purview or similar) 

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments 

• Certification in Azure Data Engineer (DP-203) or related
