SUMMARY:
The Director of Finance is the head of the casino’s financial division, responsible for establishing both immediate and long-range financial goals. This position develops company-wide budgets and financial policies to ensure profitable operations and reports directly to the General Manager.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides strategic leadership and direction for all financial operations of the casino, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Develops, oversees, and manages the annual operating and capital budgets, including revenue forecasts, expense controls, variance analysis, and multi-year financial planning to support sustainable and profitable operations.
- Leads the preparation of financial statements, forecasts, and performance reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all applicable accounting standards and gaming regulations.
- Participates in establishing major financial objectives, economic strategies, and company policies, contributing to long-range planning and organizational development.
- Advises and supports the General Manager in formulating and administering operational and fiscal policies, offering financial insight for decision-making across all departments.
- Ensures compliance with all gaming regulatory requirements, including timely submission of financial data to tribal, state, and federal agencies.
- Oversees Title 31 compliance, maintaining required documentation, ensuring proper tracking of transactions, and implementing internal controls related to Title 31 anti-money-laundering regulations.
- Administers and monitors Bank Secrecy Act (BSA/AML) compliance, ensuring internal processes meet federal reporting standards, including CRTs, SARs, and AML risk assessments.
- Maintains current knowledge of legislation and regulatory changes affecting casino operations, financial reporting, gaming compliance, and industry standards.
- Manages and coordinates internal and external audits, ensuring accurate preparation and timely submission of required documentation, and supporting audit activities across all departments.
- Ensures GAAP compliance across all financial reporting and accounting practices.
- Ensures effective accountability systems and internal controls, including oversight of the Casino Cage/Vault, Drop & Count operations, accounting systems, and financial control procedures.
- Implements and enforces financial policies, procedures, and internal controls designed to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and promote compliance.
- Collaborates with department leaders to monitor financial performance, identify efficiencies, and improve operational profitability.
- Provides financial training and guidance to management and key staff to ensure compliance with financial procedures and regulatory standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned, supporting the overall financial integrity and success of the casino.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5-10 years in casino management position.
- A Master of Business Administration (MBA) is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, or equivalent work experience of more than eight (8) years, is required.
- All applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to obtain gaming license.
- Must have knowledge of slots and table games.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to speak, read and write the English language.
- Native American preference.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER
- Must be able to pass background check and receive a gaming license from the Robinson Rancheria Gaming Commission as required to work in gaming operations.
- Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test.
- Must pass an annual Title 31 exam.
