We are looking to add an additional Mechanical Applications Engineer to our Engineering Department. The Mechanical Applications Engineer will provide engineering support to our internal sales team, our production team, and to our Field Service team. The Mechanical Applications Engineer will provide technical support to our external customers as well.
As a Mechanical Applications Engineer, you will evaluate customer specifications, review technical documents, evaluate fan designs, review technical drawings and conduct engineering analysis. You will also provide additional engineering support through projects involving FEA (Finite Element Analysis), FEM (Finite Element Method), CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), Modal Analysis, Rotor dynamics, generating engineering standards and other mechanical engineering design related tasks.

What You Will Do
- Provide technical support to both internal and external customers including our Service and Machining companies consisting of responding to technical inquiries, interpretation of technical standards, and evaluation of potential design solutions
- Provide post sales technical support regarding existing equipment repairs, replacement and optimization of fan performance or reliability
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize processes, suggesting innovative solutions, and monitoring the effectiveness of implemented changes to enhance efficiency and quality within the team
- Identify and resolve technical issues, communicating outcomes
- Remain current with industry technology, processes and practices
- Travel to customer sites to evaluate fan performance or to assist in investigating fan/system optimization projects
- Collaborate with the onsite Lab team members and the R&D group to improve Robinson Fans Inc.’s product/service offerings for all value streams
- Conduct FEA/FEM and Rotordynamic analysis
- Provide internal warranty and root cause analysis
- Participate in creating and updating engineering standards and technical work instructions
- Deliver technical presentations and/or training internally or at customer facilities
- Assist with technical tool development typically within Excel. Coding in C , Python or other languages is a plus
- Participate in and lead internal technical projects
- Other duties as assigned.

- Experience with rotating equipment is preferred.

- Solid technical background
- Proficiency in Ansys software and Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative style across multiple departments
- At least three years of mechanical engineering experience required
- BSAS in mechanical engineering technology required. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) preferred.
- Ability to travel to customer sites as needed up to 15%
