The Concrete Finisher helps place and finish for horizontal and vertical building components, perform pointing and patching and rubbing of poured vertical surfaces.

The Concrete Finisher helps place and finish for horizontal and vertical building components, perform pointing and patching and rubbing of poured vertical surfaces.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job)
- Lead place and finish concrete activities as assigned and in accordance with R&M safety policies.
- Perform curing and sealing activities including wet cure and spray-on cure and seal.
- Grind ceiling joints from horizontal formwork.
- Apply form oil to all formed surfaces.
- Ensure concrete is properly consolidated (vibrated) during placement.
- Apply muriatic acid to clean surface, and rinse with water.
- Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools.
- Clean chipped area, using wire brush, feel & observe surface to determine if it’s rough or uneven.
- Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine.
- Tool expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
- Monitor how wind, heat, or cold affect curing of the concrete throughout entire process.
- Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.
- Basic understanding of concrete finishing practices.
- Reading Comprehension — ability to read and understand information and ideas.
- Must have a minimum of two years’ experience with items listed above in “Essential Duties and Responsibilities”. Technical training preferred.
- Use of basic reasoning, thinking “on your feet”, and ability to resolve issues quickly with little or no direction from a superior.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
