We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director to lead the Robidoux Row Museum.. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with a passion for history and community engagement. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee museum operations, manage collections, develop educational programs, and foster community partnerships.
The Director will play a pivotal role in strategic planning, fundraising efforts, and ensuring the organization’s mission is fulfilled through innovative programming and effective team management. The St. Joseph Historical Society is a small, independent 501c3 organization operating Robidoux Row Museum in St. Joseph, MO. Our museum is the oldest building in St. Joseph, MO, and the oldest apartment house west of the Mississippi.
Requirements
- Strong background in fundraising, grant proposal writing, budgeting, and nonprofit management
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as database management systems
- Background in historic research or museum experience preferred
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of social media management for marketing events and organizational visibility
- Robidoux Row Museum and St. Joseph Historical Society is a museum in St. Joseph, Missouri, housed in the historic Robidoux Row, the oldest apartment building west of the Mississippi. It was built by city founder Joseph Robidoux in the 1840-1850’s. It preserves the history of St. Joseph, westward expansion and the fur trade through restored 19th century rooms, exhibits and artifacts. It also serves at the headquarters for the St. JosephHistorical Society. The site includes a heritage garden and offers event space rentals.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the future of our museum. This is a part-time position (20-30 hours per week) with a staff of one paid position as well as volunteers, and a working Board. Interested candidates should apply with a resume to:
