What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Outreach Specialist position at Robeson Community College?
The incumbent has the following duties and responsibilities:
Essential Duties
- Assisting with the registration process.
- Assisting with the compilation and preparation of admissions related reports and records.
- Assisting the Admissions Office in providing pre-admission advising services.
- Advising prospective applicants, parents, and returning students concerning programs of study, admission standards, deadlines, policies, and procedures.
- Participating in college recruitment activities including career days, community programs, presentations, workshops, individual visits to area schools, etc.
- Serves as the initial contact for prospective students by discussing various course offerings, admissions policies, and procedures; answers specific inquiries, maintains contact with prospective students, and ensures completion of application materials of students in admissions process.
- Assesses prospective student admission data, and reviews transcripts from high school, postsecondary institutions, and other relative documentation.
- Interviewing and advising students for any program of study.
- Application approval for completed applicants using Element451.
- Managing the enrollment process for prospective students, which will include file review, transcript uploads, residency review, approvals, approval letter mailings, and communication to recent approvals, and incomplete applicants.
- Coordinating traditional recruitment in area high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools
- Working in collaboration with high school counselors and high school career coaches to advise and enroll students.
- Participating in any school related activities such as i.e. Parents Nights, Athletic events, Academic Booster Clubs etc.
- Organizing the dissemination of college pathway materials/instructional supplies.
- Participating in team meetings and professional development activities as directed by the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management in coordination with appropriate Department Chairperson or Program Director.
- Engaging students, counselors, faculty, parents, and all stakeholders in information sessions related to college success and advising sessions on related topics.
- Maintaining quality partnerships with secondary school personnel.
- Interpreting the mission, educational philosophy and vision statements of Robeson Community College to the general public.
- Maintaining the integrity of the College and its related foundations.
- Representing the College professionally and handling all student inquiries confidentially.
Planning
- Participating in all aspects of institutional recruitment and planning processes.
- Supporting discipline specific student learning outcomes and assessment
- Identifying potential services, testing workshops/seminars that would
benefit Robeson Community College and the Admissions Office.
Organizing
- Assisting with the development and revision of all official policies of Robeson
Community College as requested.
- Organizing procedures for the implementation of all official policies and
regulations of Robeson Community College and the NCCCS.
- Assisting with the development of admissions and enrollment information for college marketing material.
Directing
- Stimulating and influencing innovation and creativity at all levels within the organization.
- Serving as a role model and advocate for curriculum programs within Robeson Community College.
Controlling
- Maintaining compliance with established performance standards with the North
Carolina Community College System, Robeson Community College and other
entities.
- Implementing the Enrollment Management Team policies and procedures for
Robeson Community College.
Public Relations
- Maintaining intra-institution relationships with members of the Board of Trustees,
- administrative personnel and other employees of the college.
- Providing appropriate liaison support with the North Carolina Community College
- System, Robeson Community College and other relational entities.
- Collaborating with the NCCCS staff of public relations and marketing opportunities.
- Promoting Robeson Community College with local, state, regional and national citizenry.
- Providing appropriate liaison support with the public schools in our region
- Participating in activities that promote and enhance the college’s image among its various publics.
Other
- Performing other duties as assigned by the President of Robeson Community
College.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The incumbent must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Education
- Associate’s Degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
- Experience in an institution of higher learning, preferably community college.
Other Qualifications
- Must be able to demonstrate competencies in advising areas related to the
functions of the position.
- Must be willing to work a nonstandard schedule to participate in recruitment events.
