JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction and general supervision of the Director, the outh Apprenticeship Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the District, and performing various program support duties to ensure that smooth operations of the Youth Apprenticeship Program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Supervise the district’s six Work-Based Learning coordinators.

Coordinate activities for professional development for WBL coordinators.

Monitor WBL coordinators’ required student paperwork and electronic data to ensure they
are in compliance with GADOE requirements.

Coordinate activities of the employer, high school, post-secondary institutions, and program
planners to implement the program according to the standards and guidelines published by
GADOE and assure compliance with State Board Rule 160-4-3-.13 Youth Apprenticeship
Programs.

Coordinate YAP efforts with administrators and guidance counselors

Establish school facilitators where appropriate to assist in coordination of YAP efforts.

Plan, coordinate and implement connecting activities between the school and the business
community.

Access and recommend students for employer interview (in cooperation with counselor and
CTAE instructors if appropriate)

Seek out opportunities to speak to CTAE classes and at community events.

Evaluate business partnerships and establish job placements that serve the goals and
objectives of the YAP.

Maintain signed documents and record student data electronically according to GADOE
guidelines.

Track apprentices during the post-secondary training component and document completers
of the program at the appropriate time.

Monitor and evaluate the program for improvement.

Work with education and labor agencies.

Develop linkages to other programs in the community where appropriate.

Visit job sites on a regular basis, assess student progress with input from employers and keep
program records up to date.

Analyze community resources and coordinate job placements and rotations.

Assure that placement sites are in compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and
maintain program insurance, liability, and industry regulations and standards.

Ensure completion of signed training agreements and training plans between all parties.

Ensure that youth apprenticeship-related instruction meets requirements for high school
graduation.

Participate in matching apprentices with work-based mentors and provide orientation and
training for all program partners.

Conduct public relations and program promotion activities with students, school
administrators, and the local business community.

Attend all GADOE training sessions designed for YAP coordinators.

Conduct an annual assessment of the program and develop an on-going program
improvement plan as required by GADOE.

Serve as district non-traditional enrollment coordinator which involves educating students
about non-traditional career opportunities and organizing non-traditional career camps for students by coordinating community and school resources.

Serve as CTAE Student of the Year coordinator and plan annual recognition event.

Other duties as assigned by CTAE Director.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1. Minimum of two years of work experience in business or industry is required.
2. Experience in employment counseling and/or placement is desired.
3. Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate
and acceptable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Under limited supervision, the Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator must work in a professional manner with administrators, faculty, parents and students as well as members of business and industry. The ability to match students with employee mentors in their selected career pathways is essential in this position. Must possess a current and valid Georgia Driver;s License
Salary/Terms/Benefits:
- 205 day work year. Grade: 143G
- Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).
