Staff Accountant/Accounting clerk

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant/Accounting Clerk to join our team on a long-term contract basis. Based in Pasadena, California, this role involves managing essential accounting functions and ensuring accuracy in financial records. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and accounts payable processes.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain and update the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Perform bank reconciliations to verify account balances and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice processing and vendor payments.
• Prepare and post journal entries to support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports as needed.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Continuously review and improve accounting processes for greater efficiency.
• Proven experience in general ledger maintenance and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and procedures.
• Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations with attention to detail.
• Ability to prepare accurate and timely journal entries.
• Familiarity with accounting principles and standards.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication skills to work effectively within a team environment.
