Our well-established construction client with a strong reputation for quality work and long-standing client relationships is seeking a permanent-hire, Senior Cost Accountant, to join its accounting team. About the Role:
This is a hands-on accounting role focused on job cost analysis, contract management, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction accounting, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with project managers and leadership to ensure accurate job performance reporting.
You’ll play an important role in supporting both daily accounting operations and long-term company goals, including system improvements and efficiency initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of job cost and project accounting for active contracts.
- Analyze WIP, budget-to-actual results, and cost trends.
- Maintain and reconcile contract, vendor, and labor cost data.
- Collaborate with operations and estimating teams to enhance financial visibility.
- Support accounting system transitions and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with project and client reporting standards.
- Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- 10 years of construction accounting experience with a focus on job costing
- Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proven ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
