What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Auditor position at Robert Half?
We are looking for a Senior Auditor to join our team on a long-term contract position in Summit, New Jersey. This position is a contract to hire opportunity and will have a hybrid schedule (3 days a week) onsite. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to business improvement by identifying risks, enhancing compliance, and strengthening internal processes. Experience in the insurance industry is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Execute external audits for program and assumed reinsurance business on a daily basis.
• Develop and implement risk-based strategies to ensure comprehensive audit coverage.
• Conduct audits focused on underwriting, regulatory compliance, accounting, and claims processes.
• Analyze data using advanced techniques to detect anomalies and patterns.
• Identify weaknesses in internal controls and propose actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and improve efficiency.
• Prepare detailed audit documentation, including planning memos, risk assessments, and test work conclusions.
• Ensure audit findings are communicated effectively to management and monitored through remediation.
• Stay updated on relevant regulations, industry practices, performance standards, and auditing frameworks.
• Explore opportunities to utilize data analytics, robotic process automation (RPA), and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to enhance audit effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit Execution and Management:
- Participate in the day-to-day execution of external audits for program and assumed business.
- Perform underwriting, compliance regulatory, accounting, and claims audits on third-party entities.
- Use data analysis and data mining techniques to identify anomalies in key datasets.
- Prepare audit workpapers, including planning memos, risk assessment matrices, and test work conclusions.
- Identify gaps in internal controls, recommend risk mitigation measures, and propose cost-saving strategies to bolster controls and business processes.
- Track audit findings, ensuring timely remediation through collaboration with management.
Collaboration and Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain positive, value-added relationships with key stakeholders, including MGAs/TPAs, third parties, and senior management.
- Collaborate with the External Audit Manager to align strategies with organizational objectives.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with relevant regulations, industry best practices, tools, and methodologies, including standards set by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IPPF).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CIA is strongly preferred.
- 5 years of external audit experience, preferably in the insurance industry
- Strong knowledge of underwriting, compliance, regulatory, accounting, and claims auditing.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques; ability to identify anomalies within datasets.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Knowledge of internal controls and a solid understanding of financial and operational risk assessment
