What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Specialist position at Robert Half?
Responsibilities:
• Assist in sourcing and purchasing products across various categories, including dry goods, refrigerated items, frozen foods, and fresh produce.
• Create and manage purchase orders with accuracy and timeliness to support procurement needs.
• Monitor inventory levels to align with sales demand while minimizing excess stock and waste.
• Collaborate with vendors to negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and other terms.
• Maintain and update product and supplier data files to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to facilitate timely receipt and distribution of goods.
• Conduct regular audits of inventory data and product descriptions to enhance operational efficiency.
• Work with quality control teams to ensure purchased products meet safety and quality standards.
• Utilize software tools and systems to analyze data, generate reports, and support decision-making processes.
• Implement strategies to minimize spoilage, waste, and out-of-code inventory.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in business administration or supply chain management is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, logistics, or inventory management, ideally within the foodservice industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management software.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and team collaboration.
• Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality assurance principles is a plus.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software, such as Microsoft Dynamics or Great Plains, is advantageous.
