Project Accountant

Thriving manufacturer, located in the central New Jersey area, is looking to staff multiple Project Accountants who can manage the financial aspects of assigned projects. This role will be responsible for ensuring accuracy in reporting, compliance with company policies, and alignment with project budgets and timelines. The successful candidate will draft client invoices, prepare monthly payment schedules, process change orders, track/analyze/report project costs, support month-end and year-end close processes related to projects, ensure monthly/quarterly billing goals are met, assist in contract review, and partner closely with project managers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to provide financial insight, monitor costs, and support rewarding project delivery. This Project Accountant must have strong knowledge of construction-related accounting software, high attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving abilities.

How you will make an impact

·      Create and monitor project accounts

·      Process subcontractor invoices

·      Verify project budgets

·      Provide profit analysis reports to management

·      Compile monthly project reconciliations

·      Audit change orders

·      Maintain documentation for compliance

·      Analyze project revenues

·      Assist with month/quarter-end process

·      Ad hoc projects as requested

The ideal Project Accountant will preferably have a Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or similar.

Other requirements for the Project Accountant role include and are not limited to:

·      1-2 years of prior Project Accounting/Billing Analyst experience

·      Experience in the construction industry including AIA billing

·      Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables)

·      Excellent time management and communication skills
