Our client in North Houston (Humble, TX) is seeking a Payroll Manager to join their team on a direct-hire basis, working Fridays from home!
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a payroll team, fostering collaboration and process excellence.
- Oversee, review, and execute hands-on end-to-end payroll processing for a high-volume, multi-state workforce of over 3,000 employees.
- Set up and maintain payroll systems for new states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Administer payroll operations in unionized environments, including proper handling of union contracts, dues, and related reporting.
- Manage payroll processing within UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) and ensure system integrity for data, accuracy, and reporting.
- Develop, analyze, and distribute payroll reports as needed for Finance, HR, and Compliance teams.
- Partner with HR and Finance to address payroll-related questions, audits, and special projects.
- Ensure all payroll transactions are processed timely, accurately, and in compliance with company policy and legal requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing payroll functions, supervising staff, and leading process improvement for large, multi-state employers.
- Direct experience setting up payroll operations in multiple states and maintaining compliance in each jurisdiction.
- Hands-on experience with UKG payroll systems; robust understanding of timekeeping, payroll, and reporting capabilities.
- Proven background managing union payroll, including setup and reporting.
- Strong proficiency running payroll reports and analyzing payroll data.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field—OR Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation if not degreed.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
