Medical Front Desk / Billing Clerk

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Medical Front Desk / Billing Clerk to join a growing healthcare team in Portland, Maine. This position offers excellent growth opportunities, including potential advancement to Office Manager, and a four-day workweek with Fridays off. The role requires someone who is eager to learn, has strong administrative and customer service skills, and thrives in a fast-paced medical office environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage front desk operations, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and handling inquiries.

• Perform medical billing tasks, including insurance claims processing and payment tracking.

• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.

• Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure smooth office workflows and patient satisfaction.

• Address customer service needs by responding to patient questions and resolving issues promptly.

• Utilize computer systems effectively for scheduling, billing, and record-keeping.

• Assist with administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and correspondence.

• Support office efficiency by identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.

• Provide courteous phone etiquette when answering calls and directing them appropriately.

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical, dental, or administrative office role.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in office software.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Familiarity with medical billing, insurance processes, or patient services is a plus.
• Motivated and eager to learn new skills.
• Stable work history demonstrating reliability and consistency.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information responsibly.
