Legal Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our civil litigation team in Overland Park, Kansas. This role involves supporting attorneys with various administrative and legal tasks, including preparing legal documents, managing calendars, and reviewing medical records. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities:
• Organize, request, and review medical records to support case preparation.
• Draft legal correspondence, pleadings, and discovery documents with accuracy and timeliness.
• Handle e-discovery and ensure proper management of legal documents.
• Manage attorneys’ calendars, coordinate deadlines, and ensure timely court filings.
• Provide administrative and clerical support to attorneys, including maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Assist with legal time entry and ensure compliance with office procedures.
• Collaborate with attorneys and team members to ensure efficient workflow.
• Participate in ongoing development and contribute to a positive team environment.
• Demonstrate initiative in identifying and resolving issues proactively.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least two years of civil litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice, healthcare law, or plaintiff-side cases.
• Familiarity with legal terminology, court filing requirements, and e-discovery processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Reliability and willingness to adapt to new challenges and responsibilities.
