Full Charge Bookkeeper

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper for a contract-to-hire opportunity with one of our valued clients. This is a full-time onsite role located in Spring, Texas, with flexible hours available Monday through Friday. The client operates in the public finance sector, managing funds for Water Districts, Management Districts, TIRZ, and Improvement Districts. Please note, the office environment includes cats, so individuals with pet allergies may not find this to be a suitable setting.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of multiple municipal districts. You’ll be responsible for overseeing general ledger accounts, reconciling bank statements, preparing and presenting monthly financial reports, managing district investments, and supporting budget and audit processes. The role also requires occasional evening attendance at monthly board meetings for each district.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and manage General Ledger accounts for multiple districts
• Reconcile district bank accounts and monitor securities
• Prepare and present monthly financial reports to district boards
• Issue and disburse monthly checks
• Track and process district debt payments
• Create and maintain annual fiscal year budgets
• Organize and prepare financial records for annual audits
• File required government forms and manage district invoicing
• Handle incoming phone calls and assist with administrative tasks as needed

Requirements:

• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Outlook
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, spreadsheets, financial reporting)
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
• Professional communication skills, including interaction with board members, attorneys, auditors, and banks
• Willingness to assist team members when needed
