Controller

We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations and ensure accuracy in reporting and analysis. This role requires a proactive leader capable of driving process improvements, mentoring team members, and optimizing financial systems. Based in Burlington, North Carolina, this position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on organizational success.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and oversee monthly financial reports and forecasts to ensure accurate tracking of company performance.
• Conduct detailed reviews of balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Manage work-in-process schedules to ensure proper revenue recognition and compliance.
• Analyze financial data, creating charts and graphs to support operational decision-making.
• Approve monthly billing and cash requirements for vendor payments.
• Mentor and guide the Staff Accountant, fostering development into advanced roles such as Senior Accountant or Cost Accountant.
• Collaborate with external firms and banks by providing necessary information for loans, taxes, and other financial matters.
• Revamp the chart of accounts, clearly defining usage to improve staff efficiency and accuracy.
• Enhance billing processes and documentation to streamline operations.
• Evaluate and revise overhead allocation methods to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial reporting, reconciliation, and analysis.

• Proficiency in annual and monthly financial reporting processes.

• Expertise in balance sheet account reconciliation and company revenue recognition.

• Strong knowledge of billing systems and job costing.

• Ability to identify and implement process improvements within financial operations.

• Excellent leadership and mentoring skills to support team development.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
