Billing Coordinator

We are looking for a detail-oriented Billing Coordinator to join our team on a Contract basis in Smyrna, Georgia. In this role, you will oversee and manage the billing process for pharmacy claims, ensuring timely reimbursements from insurance providers and patient payments. Your expertise will be key to maintaining compliance with industry standards while fostering efficient communication between payers, patients, and internal teams.

Responsibilities:
• Submit and monitor pharmacy claims to third-party payers, including commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid, ensuring timely reimbursements.
• Track aging reports and follow up on unpaid or partially paid claims to facilitate full payment collection.
• Investigate and resolve claim rejections and denials by identifying errors, making corrections, and re-filing or appealing claims as necessary.
• Generate patient invoices, explain billing charges, and collect payments while delivering excellent customer service.
• Accurately post payments from insurance providers and patients to the appropriate accounts in the billing system.
• Reconcile accounts receivable regularly to maintain accurate financial records and address discrepancies promptly.
• Communicate with insurance providers to verify coverage details, clarify claim issues, and expedite resolutions.
• Maintain organized and detailed records of all billing activities to ensure compliance with pharmacy industry regulations.
• Provide clerical support, including sorting, filing, and maintaining departmental reports, to support seamless operations.
• Collaborate with management to suggest strategies for improving data accuracy and provide backup assistance to team members when needed.
• Proven experience in pharmacy billing and accounts receivable, preferably within a healthcare or pharmacy environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance processes related to pharmacy claims.
• Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with patients and insurance providers.
• Proficiency in billing software and accounting systems; experience with pharmacy management systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with industry compliance standards and regulations governing pharmacy billing.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or post-secondary education in medical billing or a related field is preferred.
