Backend Engineer API Integrations

Robert Half is seeking an API Integrations Engineer to support a Group Insurance Claims organization based in Remote (U.S. Only). This role involves building and optimizing APIs to connect external systems for automated claims and document ingestion. Job Details:

Schedule: Monday–Friday, EST overlap preferred

Duration: 6 months (likely extension)

Location: Remote (U.S. Only)

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain API endpoints to facilitate system integrations and claims automation
• Implement RESTful interfaces, message validation, and event-driven workflows
• Translate business rules into scalable data contracts and transformation logic
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to drive external-facing API solutions
• Ensure robust security, logging, and documentation for all API components

• 3–5 years of experience building backend APIs (Java, C#, .NET, Node, or Typescript preferred)
• Experience with AWS services (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, EventBridge)
• Strong understanding of REST, authentication, JSON schemas, and API contracts
• Experience integrating third-party
• Familiarity with Agile and fast-paced delivery in startup-like environments
