Audit Associate - Public

Our client is seeking an Audit Associate to join our team specializing in public accounting with a focus on non-profit financial statement audits. In this role, you will oversee critical audit engagements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and contributing to the financial transparency of non-profit organizations. This position offers an opportunity to collaborate with skilled individuals in the accounting field and make a meaningful impact in the non-profit sector. Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning and execution of financial statement audits for non-profit organizations, including risk assessments and audit procedures.

• Review and evaluate financial data such as cash flow, liabilities, payroll, and other key areas to ensure compliance with accounting standards.

• Provide guidance to audit teams on non-profit accounting principles and reporting requirements, including Form 990 compliance.

• Communicate audit findings to stakeholders, including clients, senior managers, and partners, while preparing detailed audit reports.

• Foster positive client relationships by addressing inquiries and providing thoughtful recommendations.

• Stay informed about updates in regulatory standards and industry practices affecting non-profit organizations.

• Utilize audit software tools to streamline engagements and enhance efficiency.

• Mentor and supervise entry-level audit staff, promoting growth and teamwork.

• Ensure adherence to ethical accounting practices and uphold the firm's standards in public accounting for non-profits.

• Manage deadlines effectively while balancing multiple audit projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance

• Minimum of two years of auditing experience, preferably in public accounting or non-profit organizations.

• Proficiency with audit tools and software such as CaseWare or CCH ProSystem fx is advantageous.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit financial reporting requirements.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for client and team interactions.

• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Familiarity with non-profit regulatory frameworks and compliance standards is a plus.
