Assistant Controller

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our client's team in Shelby Township, Michigan. This role is a key contributor to the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance in accounting practices. The position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment while overseeing critical financial processes. This is an in office role.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.

• Reconcile over 40 bank accounts monthly to maintain precise financial records.

• Supervise accounts payable operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to support overall financial accuracy.

• Manage cash flow and liquidity through effective cash management strategies.

• Generate monthly financial reports and manage state sales tax filings.

• Collaborate with external auditors during year-end audits by providing required documentation.

• Assist with payroll processing while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

• Identify financial trends and issues, addressing them proactively to optimize operations.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management.

• Strong proficiency in month-end close procedures and general ledger management.

• Demonstrated experience in financial statement preparation and audits.

• Familiarity with account reconciliation and financial reporting processes.

• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

• Proficiency with Empower Software or similar accounting tools would be a plus.
