Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Far Hills, New Jersey. In this role, you will provide essential support during critical accounting periods, including month-end and year-end processes. Working closely with a small team, you will handle a wide array of accounting tasks to ensure smooth operations and accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities:
• Process accounts payable transactions, including coding and maintaining vendor records.
• Execute weekly payroll operations with precision and timeliness.
• Perform daily accounting activities to maintain department efficiency.
• Prepare and reconcile bank accounts, general ledger entries, and account schedules.
• Assist in month-end closing procedures, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in reconciliations proactively.
• Generate and review reports using Sage 300 to support financial close processes.
• Facilitate year-end reporting, including 1099 preparation and vendor verification.
• Provide necessary documentation and schedules for audits and year-end reviews.
• Utilize Excel for advanced reporting and reconciliation tasks, employing pivot tables and v-lookups.
• Proven experience in bank, general ledger, and payroll reconciliations.
• Hands-on expertise in accounts payable and weekly payroll processing.
• Proficiency in Sage 300 software is required or strongly preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and v-lookups.
• Familiarity with construction accounting practices, including job costing and retainage, is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in handling tasks.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a track record of thorough follow-through.
