Afterschool Program Director
Robert F. Munroe Day School is seeking an energetic, organized, and student-centered Afterschool Program Director to lead our Lower School Afterschool Program.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can create a structured, engaging, and positive experience for students after the school day ends.
Position Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- Regular School Days: 2:45 PM – 6:00 PM
- School Half Days: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- School holidays and weekends off
- Additional opportunities may be available during summer programs and school breaks
Program Overview
The Afterschool Program Director will oversee a daily program serving approximately 25 students in Pre-K through 5th Grade. The Director will be supported by two student workers and will be responsible for ensuring a safe, organized, engaging, and enriching environment for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage students during afterschool hours.
- Provide leadership and direction to two student workers.
- Assist students with homework completion and provide academic support as needed.
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate recreational, enrichment, leadership, and team-building activities.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive environment that reflects the values and expectations of Robert F. Munroe Day School.
- Manage student attendance, parent communication, and daily program operations.
- Coordinate transitions between homework time, snack, outdoor play, enrichment activities, and dismissal.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and families to support student success.
- Ensure all school policies and procedures are followed consistently.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, recreation, or youth development setting.
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise groups of children while maintaining a positive and engaging atmosphere.
- Self-directed, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
