Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief with at least 2 years of field surveying experience to lead and supervise a survey crew. This role will oversee all aspects of field data collection, construction layout, and project documentation using conventional surveying methods and modern equipment.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise survey crew members in the field
Perform construction layout, stakeouts, and field measurements for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects
Conduct boundary, topographic, right-of-way, and acquisition surveys
Operate total stations, GPS equipment, and other surveying instruments
Review and interpret real estate documents, site plans, and record drawings
Produce accurate field notes, sketches, and digital files
Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety protocols, and deadlines
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify requirements and resolve issues
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of field surveying experience, preferably as a Party Chief or Crew Chief
Proficiency with conventional and GPS survey equipment (e.g., total stations, data collectors)
Strong understanding of survey methods, construction layout, and project documentation
Ability to read and interpret plans, plats, and engineering drawings
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Skills
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar drafting software
Knowledge of local, state, and federal survey regulations
Prior experience with residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects
