What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Welder position at Robar Enterprises?
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Careful initial planning of the job to be carried out, reading and following erection drawings/plans.
- Using cranes to lift and guide individual steel components into position.
- Knowledge of crane signals
- Accurately aligning and leveling each steel component into place before bolting and welding them into fixed positions
- Using mobile elevated work platforms, ladders, and lifts as the structure gains height, to access sections off the ground. Forklift/Boom Lift certifications are a plus.
- Laying metal decking and installing safety railing as the structure is built up.
- Health and safety are very important, so strict adherence to OSHA guidelines is a must and always to be followed.
- Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, protractor, and ruler.
- Tack welds or welds components and assemblies using GTAW or GMAW techniques.
- Inspects components before assembly, making sure they comply with manufacturing blueprints.
- Be able to weld in multiple positions.
- Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Equipment Maintenance, perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Qualifications:
- Must be skilled in using hand and power tools, as well as machinery such as drills, saws, and grinders.
- Displays a basic mechanical aptitude. Familiar with equipment function and servicing requirements. Able to perform preventive maintenance as assigned.
- Must follow safety procedures and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Requires physical strength and hand-eye coordination.
- The ability to work well in a team.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols
- Pay range based on certifications and experience
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; Previous MSHA training is a plus.
- FCAW-G Unlimited Certification in 3G and 4G positions and/or Certification in FCAW-G Tack welding in all positions
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for prolonged periods
- Lifting to 70 lbs.
- Crouching/bending
- Walking
- Works in many different weather conditions
