Pay Range: Hiring/starting pay range is $31.67 - $40.38/hourly, based on experience.

Position Purpose:
The Communications Project Manager supports the Public Information Officer by ensuring the smooth planning, coordination, and execution of communications, public relations, and marketing initiatives. This role is responsible for managing team workflows, coordinating campaigns, tracking deadlines, and providing backup support to the PIO. The position plays a central role in keeping projects organized and on track, serving as a liaison between internal teams and external vendors, and ensuring consistent, accurate and clear messaging across channels.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Communications Coordination & Planning
- Coordinate and implement communication and marketing plans in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Assist in the development and execution of campaigns, ensuring consistent brand and message delivery.
- Workflow & Project Management
- Maintain team project schedules, editorial calendars, and task assignments to ensure deadlines are met.
- Monitor progress on communications and marketing initiatives, escalating issues as needed.
Content & Campaign Management
- Manage content development and updates across digital platforms, including websites, intranet, newsletters, and social media.
- Support campaign coordination, including drafting copy, scheduling posts, and tracking engagement.
- Ensure brand consistency across materials.
Event & Outreach Support
- Provide planning and logistical support for events, outreach activities, and public engagement efforts.
- Assist with preparation of presentations, displays, and collateral materials.
Analytics & Reporting
- Track, analyze, and report on communication and marketing performance metrics (web, social, campaign effectiveness).
- Use insights to recommend improvements to communication strategies.
Backup Public Information Officer (PIO)
- Provide backup to the PIO in drafting press releases, responding to media inquiries, and coordinating with stakeholders when the PIO is unavailable.
- Vendor & Partner Liaison
- Serve as the primary point of contact with external vendors and partners for marketing, communications, advertising, and creative projects.
- Coordinate contracts, timelines, and deliverables.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt style for various audiences.
- Knowledge of media relations, social media management, and digital content practices.
- Ability to analyze communication metrics and develop data-driven recommendations.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Smartsheets, Asana, Trello, MS Planner) and content management systems.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
Experience
- 3–5 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
- Experience in project management and workflow coordination is strongly preferred.
Working Conditions:
- This position primarily operates in an office environment but requires occasional work outdoors in various weather conditions, including during media events, community outreach.
- Occasional travel to off-site locations for events, meetings, or media coverage is required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform duties in both indoor and outdoor environments, including standing or walking for extended periods.
