We are seeking an experienced Quality Systems & Compliance Manager to lead and continuously improve our Quality Management System while supporting production, engineering, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
The Quality Systems & Compliance Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving Roanwell's Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 requirements, supporting customer and government audits, leading corrective and preventive actions, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
This position works closely with Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and Executive Management to ensure that products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company quality requirements.
- Maintain and continuously improve the AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Lead internal audits, management reviews, and external certification audits.
- Coordinate customer, government, and third-party quality audits and inspections.
- Manage corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities through root cause analysis and effective implementation.
- Lead investigations into nonconforming material, customer complaints, and supplier quality issues.
- Monitor quality metrics and report performance to Executive Management.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, military standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Review engineering changes for quality system impact.
- Support first article inspections (FAI) and production readiness activities.
- Develop, revise, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and controlled documentation.
- Partner with Purchasing to improve supplier quality and performance.
- Partner with Production to improve process capability and reduce defects.
- Train employees on quality procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supervise quality inspectors and coordinate daily inspection priorities.
- Support government source inspections, customer source inspections, and acceptance activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field (preferred).
- 5 years of Quality Management experience in aerospace, defense, electronics manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
- Thorough knowledge of AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001.
- Experience with internal auditing and external certification audits.
- Experience working with defense contractors and government customers.
- Strong understanding of root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
- Experience with supplier quality management.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- AS9100 Lead Auditor certification
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification
- FAA, DoD, DCMA, DLA, or prime contractor audits
- IPC standards
- Electro-mechanical assembly manufacturing
- Cable and wire harness manufacturing
- Electronics manufacturing
- ERP/MRP systems
- Statistical process control (SPC)
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
- Maintaining Roanwell's Quality Management System
- Supporting AS9100 and ISO certification activities
- Preparing for and leading customer and government audits
- Improving manufacturing quality and operational performance
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Building strong partnerships across Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Operations
