GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Recreation Facility Attendant is responsible for supporting daily facility operations and ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all patrons. This role oversees the wellness floor, gymnasium, and other recreation spaces during operational hours, monitoring proper use of fitness equipment and enforcing facility rules. Key responsibilities include preparing equipment, materials, and spaces for recreation programs and events; setting up according to specific needs; and maintaining accurate records. The attendant also assists with supervising activities and participants, conducts routine walkthroughs, and performs light cleaning and maintenance to uphold facility standards. Reports directly to the Recreation Program Supervisor and performs related duties as assigned.
Shift Hours and/or Days Worked: Fridays 10:30am-4:00pm. Pick up other shifts as possible
Hours Required for this position: 10-20
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
~ Assist in supervising recreation activities and facilities.
~ Assist with the supervision of program participants.
~ Ensures safe, proper, and respectful use of all equipment and spaces including the wellness floor and gymnasium.
~ Enforce facility rules and safety guidelines consistently and professionally.
~ Provides exceptional customer service by assisting patrons with questions, concerns, or general support.
~ Conducts scheduled walkthroughs of the fitness area, gymnasium to ensure safety, cleanliness, and adequate supplies.
~ Identifies and reports any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or facility maintenance needs to the Wellness Management Team.
~ Assist with the set-up, clean up, monitoring and breakdown of facility, program or event areas. including setting up tables, furniture, signage, and clean up duties as needed daily or per event.
~ Conducts wellness orientations and equipment demonstrations if trained and as directed.
~ May assist in monitoring participant usage counts or logging data for operational needs.
~ Attends required staff meetings and in-service training.
~ Maintains accurate records involving recreation activities.
~ Assists with emergency response procedures when necessary, including contacting emergency personnel, assisting with preparing or submitting incident and accident reports to appropriate supervisors or administering basic first aid/CPR if certified.
~ While working at Splash Valley, actively monitor and ensure patron safety on water slides and within park boundaries.
REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
Education:
Required: Graduation from High School or equivalent.
Preferred: Currently have or are working toward a degree in Exercise Science or Health related field.
Experience:
Preferred: Previous experience in supporting community recreation activities and/or working in a fitness-related setting and/or a Nationally accredited Fitness Certification.
Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred: CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic understanding of fitness and recreation center policies and equipment.
Familiarity with a variety of fitness equipment (e.g., cardio machines, strength equipment, free weights).
Ability to observe and identify unsafe or inappropriate behavior in recreational spaces and respond appropriately.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patrons and team members.
Ability to remain calm, confident, and professional in high-traffic or emergency situations.
Ability to follow established procedures, complete tasks with minimal supervision, and maintain a proactive approach to cleanliness and safety.
Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and uphold the department's customer service standards.

Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Subject to a complete criminal history and Child Protective Services background search with acceptable results.
