ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Provide support to individuals in a 1:1 or group format as defined in the ISP/DHSP.
• Accurately record all data for established goals, objectives and behavior plans of members in assigned group, in real time.
• Work in cooperation with other Direct Care Staff and Case Managers to develop member skills in the areas of: self-help skills, sensorimotor skills, communication skills, independent living skills, affective development skills, social development skills, behavioral development, and wellness.
• Attend mandated Safety Care training. Responsible for implementing physical restraints on the individuals we support to assist with behavioral management.
• This may include, but not limited to, hitting, biting, kicking, and spitting.
• Implement all plans as outlined by OT, PT, Speech, Nursing and Behavioral objectives for individual members.
• Cooperate and interact with co-workers, clients, volunteers, and funders in a collaborative, courteous, empathic, and professional manner. Demonstrate willingness and ability to be part of team effort.
• Participate in on-the-job training with co-workers and provide coaching to newly hired staff as directed.
• Serve as a liaison between RTR and the community representing a positive and pro-active attitude at all times.
• Serve as an appropriate role model for individuals under supervision establishing behavioral limits in a positive consistent manner and in accordance with behavioral plans.
• Participate in the Positive Behavior Support initiative and complete the Quality Behavior Curriculum.
• Implement all behavior plan interventions as assigned. These behavioral interventions may include physical restraint.
• Adhere to all program routines and schedules.
• Provide transportation to community activities as needed.
• Assist and support individuals as needed with physical direct care/dietary needs. May include: physical or mechanical transfer of individuals from wheelchairs to a van, chair, toilet etc. May also include any nursing activity that is deemed to be delegable, including, but not limited, to the administration of thickening agents, and assistance with special diets.
• Adhere to the schedules and needs of RTR and the schedules and needs of individuals under supervision.
• Provide input to the core professional interdisciplinary team.
• Attend all required meetings.
• Adhere to agency safety standards.
• Perform additional duties, or substitute for others as required. Additional duties may include but are not limited to, clearing snow and ice from walkways, vehicles, parking lots, and roads using equipment like shovels, snow blowers while applying deicing agents to ensure safety.
• Adhere to all RTR policies and procedures.
• Develop and provide all services in accordance with RTR’s philosophies including staff and Board beliefs
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and the internet.
- Successful completion of all state and agency mandated trainings.
- Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release of information concerning allegations from Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC), Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and other agencies.

- Tuberculosis screening within the previous 12 months.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be fluent in English and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals under supervision, employees of the organization, families, and members of the community.
