Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Electrical Apprentice to join our team. You will assist in the installation, maintenance, and integration of AV systems across commercial job sites under the supervision of a licensed electrician. Shift availability includes both 1st and 2nd shift, with scheduling driven by customer needs. Each workday is structured as an 8-hour shift. A valid driver's license is required, as travel to various customer sites throughout Connecticut is an essential part of this role.
Duties
- Assist with the installation of dedicated electrical circuits and power feeds that support commercial AV equipment including displays, projectors, amplifiers, and rack systems
- Install conduit runs to route power and low-voltage wiring for AV systems throughout commercial spaces such as conference rooms, lobbies, training rooms, and auditoriums
- Pull, route, and dress low-voltage cabling — including Cat6, HDMI, fiber optic, coax, and speaker wire — in commercial environments, following NEC Article 725 and 800 low-voltage wiring standards
- Install wall plates, mud rings, back boxes, and AV rough-in brackets in commercial wall and ceiling assemblies, ensuring all penetrations comply with Connecticut fire code and building requirements
- Assist with mounting and securing AV-related electrical components including power strips, UPS units, surge protectors, and PDUs within commercial equipment racks and enclosures
- Assist with labeling, testing, and documenting all power and low-voltage circuits associated with AV installations, ensuring accuracy against project as-built drawings and system documentation
- Follow all OSHA 10 safety protocols and Connecticut Department of Labor apprenticeship requirements on every commercial job site, including proper use of PPE, ladders, and aerial lifts
- Attend and complete required classroom instruction hours through an approved Connecticut JATC or Department of Labor apprenticeship program, applying coursework directly to AV-related electrical tasks in the field
Requirements
Must Have
- Electrical trade school diploma or equivalent certification
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive a box truck
- Enrollment in a Connecticut electrical apprenticeship program (e.g., low-voltage or E-2 track)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs and work in construction environments

- BICSI Installer (INST1 or INSTC)
Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour
