What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant position at RMP LLP?
At RMP, we are looking for a legal assistant that is interested in expanding their knowledge and willing to learn and grow by taking on new skills as needed; a person with a great attitude that wants to be a part of a team that gets things done for our clients.
Demonstrated Knowledge and Skills needed to be a successful candidate:
- Ability to compose memos, business style letters, and emails
- Knowledge of Microsoft software to include Word, basic Excel, Office365.
- Document management software experience a plus (Perfect Law)
- Knowledge of law office practices and procedures
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, while working effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to proofread a variety of documents and pay attention to detail
- Ability to establish good rapport with attorneys, clients, and other employees
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible legal assistant experience
- Experience in law office setting that practices Estate Planning, Transactional, Tax Planning, and Tax Controversy preferred but not required
- Certificate/associate’s degree in paralegal studies or extensive working experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide administrative support and work directly with attorneys on client matters
- Type legal documents and correspondence with attention to grammar, spelling, and formatting
- Prepare the first drafts of memos, letters, and reports
- Electronic filing
- Answer client phone calls, communicate with clients as needed
- Maintain contact lists and organize electronic client files
- Monitor calendars; maintain deadlines; schedule meetings; follow through with all related tasks
