What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at RMC Constructors?
RMC Constructors is seeking a qualified Estimator with five years minimum experience in industrial and commercial projects. Experience with “big box” retailers a plus. Successful candidates must have proficient computer skills, capable of scope analysis, quantity survey, pricing, skilled at pre-construction services, and bidding complete project requirements.
As an Estimator at RMC, you will be responsible for:
- Proficient utilization of AutoDesk and specifically Building Connected. The Estimator must have a thorough working knowledge of ACC and its' components.
- Total familiarity with project scope, requirements, sire conditions, and local labor and vendor markets.
- Preparation of pre-bid conceptual construction schedules.
- Analyzing specific clients and their intended or perceived utilization of the finalized product.
- Maintaining a thorough and current knowledge of industry developments in construction methodology, safety practices and related codes.
- Maintaining excellent subcontractor/vendor and field operations relationships.
As an Estimator at RMC, your duties include:
- Reviewing general and special conditions and the scope of the project.
- Notifying plan rooms, trade publications and subcontractors/vendors of intention to submit a proposal.
- Prepare the estimate for review.
- Determine and make recommendations to the Director for the most desirable and efficient team best suited to the specific project.
- Actively pursue "most desirable" subcontractors pre-selected for the project establishing a working plan of action for bid day.
- Conduct the "Pre-bid" review with assigned field personnel and department heads.
- Prepare the draft bid proposal form. Prepare and review the subcontractor/vendor questionnaire and chair the "Bid day" meeting on assigned projects.
- Review and finalize bid/contract summary after "Bid-day". Analyze cut/add sheet and vendor quotations for voids or overlaps. Finalize all quotations in writing.
- Sign off estimate in accordance with established procedures and participate in post-bid review.
- Actively participate in the "Cold Call" program. Assist in the training of departmental staff and in the maintenance of the Master Subcontractor/Vendor list.
