Duties
- Safely operate a box truck or personal vehicle to deliver packages along assigned routes, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Load and unload shipments using manual handling techniques, pallet jacks, or material handling equipment while practicing safe lifting practices
- Verify delivery details, obtain signatures when required, and document delivery status using mobile devices or electronic tracking systems
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and report any mechanical issues promptly
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with recipients, answering questions, and ensuring a positive delivery experience
- Follow all route instructions accurately, adjusting as needed for traffic or weather conditions to meet delivery deadlines
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, weight handling in the workplace, and adherence to safety protocols throughout each shift
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, preferably with warehouse operations or commercial driving background
- Ability to operate a box truck or commercial truck confidently and safely
- Strong knowledge of route driving, traffic laws, and DOT regulations governing commercial vehicle operation
- Experience with manual handling, heavy lifting, moving shipments, and using material handling equipment such as pallet jacks
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in diverse situations
- Familiarity with mobile devices for route navigation, delivery documentation, and communication purposes
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to safe lifting practices, weight handling in the workplace, and safety protocols during load & unload activities
