Role Description This is a part-time, remote Process Server role. The Independent Process Server is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and serving legal documents such as subpoenas, summons, and notices in accordance with applicable laws and procedural rules. Typical tasks include planning efficient routes, attempting service at various locations and times, accurately documenting all service attempts, and promptly updating the case management system or client portal. The role also involves verifying recipient identities when appropriate, completing affidavits or proofs of service, and returning completed documentation within required deadlines. The Independent Process Server will communicate with the internal team or clients regarding status updates, potential issues, and any challenges encountered during service.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of Legal Document Preparation and accuracy in handling sensitive paperwork.
- Knowledge of Service Processes, including proper methods of serving subpoenas, summons, and related documents.
- Familiarity with Law and Courts as they relate to civil procedure, due process, and service requirements.
- Ability to participate in and apply Training related to process serving best practices, compliance, and safety.
- Strong attention to detail, recordkeeping, and time management skills.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license (where required), and willingness to travel locally.
- Comfort working independently in the field while maintaining professional and respectful conduct.
- Prior experience as a process server, in legal support, or in a related legal services role is required.
- Ability to meet confidentiality standards, follow instructions, and use basic digital tools for reporting.
