Overview
We are seeking a Public Safety Officer , sometimes referred to as a Hospital Security Officer or Healthcare Security Officer . The P ublic S afety O fficer will p erform a range of security duties including electronic surveillance and routine manual patrols to ensure the safety of the facility. The Public Safety Officer will c oordinate responses to incidents involving patients, staff, and visitors while enforcing policies and procedures fairly and consistently. The Public Safety Officer will c ollaborate with the Environment of Care Committee to support a multidisciplinary approach to safety and security at our hospital .
Shift’s Available : Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts
Employment Type : Per Diem (PD / PRN)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
- Access Control and Patrols: m onitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas; conduct regular interior and exterior patrols to deter theft, violence, or unsafe behavior
- Emergency Response: r espond to emergency codes and assist with crowd control, evacuation, or containment as needed
- De-escalation and Conflict Management : i ntervene in disruptive situations using de-escalation techniques to calm agitated patients or visitors, often in collaboration with clinical staff
- Patient and Visitor Assistance: e scort patients or visitors safely through the facility, provide directions, and assist with lost-and-found or personal property issues
- Incident Documentation: w rite detailed reports on incidents, accidents, or safety hazards and report findings to supervisors or risk management
Education and Training
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- State Guard Certification Registration Card within 6 months of hire and maintain current
- State Driver’s license upon hire
- Current DMV H6 report
- Experience in healthcare security or related experience
